During my year as Club Men’s Captain in 2020 and Shaun Leach’s year as Captain in 2021, we hosted a good cause charity fundraising effort for The Queens Oncology Unit Castle Hill Hospital. This hospital has personal resonance for many of the Beverley & East Riding Golf Club members and they gave generously to the good cause, raising a significant amount of £3075.

Professor Russell Patmore, Medical Director at Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, came to Beverley & East Riding Golf Club to be given a cheque for these funds raised by the Golf Club membership during 2020/2021.

A big “Thank you” to the membership of our Golf Club for their generosity – I know Russell is appreciative of the donation, contributing in practical routes to this local centre of excellence for patient care, medical treatment and essential research work.

In addition to the £3075 funds given to the hospital today, our two years captains charity fundraising also provided funds to purchase a new Club Honours Board and a significant amount to the Juniors Section.
In summary, the generosity of the membership in 2020 and 2021 saw benefits to the Club membership AND to the Queens Oncology Unit at Castle Hill Hospital.

A marvellous effort from our membership in unprecedented times through the peak of Covid restrictions.
