The busy summer golf period is now well underway I hope you are all enjoying our splendid course which is looking as good as I have ever seen it and the club is getting many plaudits about it.
I will start with Inter Clubs. We played our first match away last week at Cottingham and they made home advantage pay, we got well beat. We go again tonight at home against Cave Castle fingers crossed the weather will stay fine. We hopefully have a home game v Garforth next Tuesday look out for the email in the next few days. The turnout for the first two games has been good but it would be nice to see some of our newer members taking part in what is competitive but fun golf followed by a meal.
We also entered the National Inter-Clubs Mixed Team Championships and played our first round last week against Wilton Goff Club from the North East. I am happy to report a 3-2 win so we now go to Scarborough South Cliff for the next round.
The Scratch team is also looking good under Captain Mike Robson and I believe he has enough players to run two teams.
Myself and three other members, Matt Sutcliffe, Doug Sharp and Carl Johnson are taking part in an Epic Golf and Cycle challenge.
We start 5am Friday 1 July 2022 and play Beverley, get on our bikes cycle to Hornsea, play Hornsea and cycle back to Beverley and then repeat. 4 rounds of golf 60 miles of cycling. Trust me this will be a tough challenge and we are training hard to make it achievable. There is a just giving page where you can donate and guess our total time and win a prize. There will also be a sheet in the club shop for those that are not computer savvy.
Just to spice things up Hornsea under Rich Pace are doing the same challenge but starting at Hornsea. Which club will have the fastest time?
