The EGGS golfing season kicked off in March with 2 x home fixtures against Hornsea and Skidby Lakes Golf Clubs. My thanks to Ian Hamilton for welcoming our guests in my absence. Our next two fixtures are home to Drax on 21st March and away at Brough on 4th April.

Sandwiched between these fixtures is my own Captain’s Winter Away Day on 28th March to be held at Filey GC.

All paid-up members of the EGGS are eligible to attend these fixtures and events and membership for 2022 remains open and available to Beverley and East Riding Golf Club members (over 55s) for an annual fee of £10.

As Captain, it is a pleasure to welcome to the EGGS group both our 2021 Club Captain, Shaun Leach, and our 2022 Club Captain, Pat Howdle. Already within the EGGS is your 2023 Captain elect, Ben Gardiner. We EGGS have always strived to support the wider club and it has been a particular pleasure to support by financial means the Club Captains’ nominated charities.

If social golf on Monday and Thursday mornings could work for you or if you would like the opportunity to meet and play with like-minded senior golfers here at Beverley then the EGGS are waiting to welcome you! As an EGG you will also have the opportunity to visit and play golf at an array of different golf courses in our region and beyond. Days out are on a reciprocal basis and typically include 18 holes of golf with a meal afterwards. This typically costs £10 to £12 – fantastic value!

New Competition – Seniors

Following COVID and the Club’s decision to discourage roll-ups, I have worked with Mike Moore of the Monday, Wednesday, Friday group to initiate a “4 Seasons” Senior Stableford competition with the Spring event scheduled for Monday 11th April. All seniors are urged to support this new competition which will be available to book via ClubV1. The Senior (over 60) events will recognise 3 separate age categories and all entry fees will be allocated towards prizes. Tee slots will be reserved but times will be a matter of personal choice. It is hoped we can achieve a little more integration of the vibrant Senior Sections of the club, regardless of what time or day of the week you normally like to play!
